Trans Nzoia County Establishes Emergency Medical Dispatch Centre Powered by Ambulensi

The Trans Nzoia County Government has officially established its Emergency Medical Dispatch Centre at Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital, marking a significant step toward faster and more coordinated emergency medical response across the county.

The establishment of the centre was made possible through the support of the Emergency Medicine Kenya Foundation (EMKF) as part of its ongoing work to strengthen Kenya’s emergency healthcare system. The new facility will operate a toll-free emergency number (0800 724 994), providing residents with direct, life-saving access to emergency medical, fire, and rescue services.

At the heart of this system is Ambulensi, EMKF’s locally developed Emergency Medical Services (EMS) coordination platform. Ambulensi enables real-time tracking of ambulances, patient locations, and incident details, ensuring that the nearest available ambulance is deployed quickly and efficiently. The system also facilitates coordination with security and fire response units, streamlining emergency management across multiple agencies.

This digital integration will ensure that every second counts — enhancing accountability, transparency, and communication throughout the emergency response process.
