Strengthening Emergency Medical Dispatch in Migori County: A Milestone for Public Ambulance Services

The recent conclusion of a 10-day Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) training program for Migori County marks a meaningful milestone in the county’s efforts to enhance emergency preparedness and strengthen the coordination of public ambulance services.

Delivered in partnership with the County Government of Migori, the training focused on equipping Emergency Medical Dispatchers with the essential competencies required for effective, lifesaving dispatch operations. Participants were trained in call-taking, triage, incident prioritisation, structured communication protocols, and the coordinated activation of ambulances during emergencies.

This investment in dispatch capability aligns with EMKF’s broader mission to support county governments across Kenya in developing robust public ambulance services through its Ambulensi Program. It demonstrates what is possible when counties and technical partners work together to build strong institutions, deploy evidence-based practices, and empower frontline teams.
