POCUS Training at Siaya County Referral Hospital Emergency Department

Siaya County Referral Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) has taken a significant step forward in enhancing patient care with the support of the Emergency Medicine Kenya Foundation (EMKF). We donated a brand-new portable ultrasound machine—a vital piece of equipment that will transform how emergency care is delivered in the county.

Alongside the donation, EMKF provided comprehensive, hands-on training for ED healthcare professionals, focusing on the use of Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) in emergency settings. This training equips the team to confidently and effectively use the technology in real-time patient care, enabling faster, more accurate diagnoses and improving outcomes in critical situations.

By building both the technological and human capacity of public Emergency Departments across Kenya, EMKF is strengthening their ability to respond to complex medical emergencies more efficiently.

This initiative is about more than just technology—it’s about equipping our frontline teams with the skills, confidence, and tools they need to save lives.
