Cardiovascular diseases are increasingly emerging as one of the leading causes of emergency presentations in hospitals across Kenya. In many Emergency Departments (EDs), heart-related emergencies such as heart attacks, arrhythmias, and cardiac arrests are becoming more frequent and severe, demanding timely diagnosis and intervention. The ECG machine is therefore a critical piece of equipment for every Emergency Department, enabling healthcare providers to identify and manage life-threatening heart conditions rapidly.
The donation of a new ECG machine to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital (NTRH), accompanied by hands-on training for healthcare providers, will significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver timely, accurate, and lifesaving cardiac care. From early detection of heart conditions to improved emergency response, this marks a vital step forward in enhancing emergency care for the community.
This initiative is part of EMKF’s ongoing work to equip all public Emergency Departments in Kenya with essential emergency medical care equipment, empowering hospitals to respond effectively to medical emergencies and save more lives.
