Building Systems That Last: EMKF Q2 2026 Impact Report

We are excited to share EMKF’s Q2 2026 Impact Report, highlighting our continued progress in strengthening sustainable emergency healthcare systems across Kenya.

This quarter, EMKF worked with national and county governments to:

  • Support 7 public ambulance services
  • Strengthen 12 public emergency departments
  • Train 290 healthcare providers

Key milestones included the launch of Elgeyo Marakwet County’s first integrated Emergency Dispatch Centre, powered by Ambulensi, and the County Government’s commitment to provide free public ambulance services. EMKF also trained Community Health Workers across five counties, strengthened frontline emergency department teams and supported the training of Emergency Medical Dispatchers who will staff Kenya’s first National Emergency Dispatch Centre.

In Mombasa County, Ambulensi enabled the nearest ambulance to be dispatched within two minutes for a woman requiring an emergency caesarean section. She reached the receiving hospital and was handed over within 39 minutes—less than half the previous referral time of approximately 90 minutes.

These milestones demonstrate what is possible when communities, healthcare providers, governments and partners work together to build coordinated emergency healthcare systems that last.
