Marsabit County Government took an important step last week toward strengthening emergency healthcare services with the launch of its County Emergency Medical Care (EMC) Plan, County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Plan, and Emergency Dispatch Center.

These plans are important because they provide more than strategic direction. They create a practical roadmap for sustaining emergency healthcare services by defining governance structures, coordination mechanisms, workforce priorities, ambulance operations, referral pathways, facility readiness, and the systems needed to support continuous improvement.

By putting these policy and planning documents in place, Marsabit County laid the foundation for emergency healthcare services that are not dependent on isolated activities but are embedded within county systems, budgets, leadership structures, and long-term health service planning.

Supporting this vision is the newly launched Emergency Dispatch Center, powered by the Ambulensi platform.

The Dispatch Centre serves as a central coordination hub for receiving emergency calls, dispatching ambulances, supporting ambulance teams, and improving communication between communities, dispatch officers, ambulance crews, and healthcare facilities. This strengthens the county’s ability to provide timely, organised, and appropriate emergency response across Marsabit.
