At the Ambulensi EMS Conference, the Emergency Medicine Kenya Foundation (EMKF) officially launched the Ambulensi EMS Operations Mobile App, extending the Ambulensi platform directly into the hands of ambulance crews responding to emergencies across the country. As Kenya continues to strengthen emergency healthcare systems, it is becoming increasingly clear that ambulances alone do not save lives. What saves lives are the systems that coordinate them. The launch of the Ambulensi EMS Operations App brings these systems directly to the frontline, supporting ambulance crews responding to emergencies in the field.
Putting Critical Tools in the Hands of Responders
With the Ambulensi mobile app, ambulance crews can now:
- Receive dispatch assignments in real time
- Navigate quickly to incident locations and referral hospitals
- Record patient care during transport
- Access EMS protocols and standard operating procedures
The app also includes offline functionality, ensuring ambulance crews can continue accessing critical tools and information even in areas with limited or unstable network coverage.
By placing these tools directly in the hands of responders, the Ambulensi platform strengthens coordination between dispatch centres, ambulance crews, and receiving health facilities, ensuring emergency response becomes more organised, predictable, and accountable.
A National Effort to Strengthen EMS
The launch was marked together with Dr Andrew Toro, Director of Curative Services at the Ministry of Health, alongside county leaders, EMS providers, and stakeholders from across the country. Dr Toro emphasised that strengthening Emergency Medical Services requires more than ambulances. It requires systems, standards, trained personnel, financing, and sustained collaboration among national and county governments, healthcare providers, training institutions, private-sector partners, and development organisations. The Ambulensi platform is one such system, designed to help counties build coordinated and accountable EMS operations that function reliably during emergencies.
Building the Future of Public Ambulance Services
The launch of the Ambulensi EMS Operations App represents more than a product milestone. It is another step toward building structured, coordinated, and responsive public ambulance services across Kenya’s 47 counties.
By strengthening how public ambulances are dispatched, how responders communicate, and how patient care is documented during transport, Ambulensi helps ensure that when emergencies happen, the response is organised and timely.
Because ambulance services save lives when systems work.
