For years, emergency calls have been fragmented, ambulance coordination has been limited, and communication between communities, responders, and emergency care centers has been inconsistent across Kenya. In these moments, delays have not just been operational challenges; they have meant the difference between life and death.
The launch of the Elgeyo Marakwet Emergency Dispatch Center marks an important step in changing that.
From Fragmentation to Coordination
The newly operational dispatch center will serve as a 24/7 coordination hub, ensuring that emergency calls are received, triaged, and responded to in real time.
Through this system:
- Emergency calls are centrally managed
- Ambulances are dispatched efficiently
- Communication between communities, ambulance teams, and health facilities is strengthened
Integrated with our Ambulensi Platform, the new dispatch center can now receive emergency calls, identify and deploy the nearest available ambulance to each emergency, improving response times and ensuring patients are connected to emergency medical care faster.
Strengthening Access to Emergency Medical Care
A key milestone accompanying this launch is the County Government’s commitment to provide free public ambulance services. This removes a critical barrier to access, ensuring that patients can seek emergency care without delay due to cost
The introduction of dedicated emergency lines:
📞 0704 282828
📞 0709 000430
further strengthens access, providing the public with clear access to emergency medical care services.
A System, Not Just a Service
This development reflects a broader shift, from isolated resources to a coordinated emergency healthcare system. At the Emergency Medicine Kenya Foundation (EMKF), we are proud to have partnered with the Elgeyo Marakwet County Government to support this milestone. Through Ambulensi and ongoing systems strengthening efforts, we continue to work with counties to build emergency response systems that are structured, accountable, and designed to save lives.
